.Kamaiyah has been having difficulty clearing samples for her debut album , so she’s decided to issue a new mixtape to hold fans over titled Before I Wake.
The 10-song project is executive produced by Link+Up and contains no features, allowing Kamaiyah plenty of room to get some things off her chest.
The Oakland artist had this to say:
“This past year has been extremely hard for me. I lost my brother to cancer and went through extreme depression. Creatively I felt trapped with my project being held up due to samples. I lost my way and decided to take initiative by recording and putting together music for my fans all on my own because I felt it was time. Thank you for everyone who has been patient, this is only the beginning.”
